March 2018

Just a Line is an app for iOS and Android that lets you make simple drawings in augmented reality, then share your creation with a short video. Touch the screen to draw, then hit record and share what you make.

Just a Line was an exploration into AR, by starting with a human primitive: expressing oneself through drawing. Built to showcase Google’s new ARCore capabilities. Users draw lines in 3D space and then can physically move through their creations.

I led the early effort to build the technical and ux prototypes. The team would later add capabilities to share drawing sessions with others across Android and iOS and share the project with the world. Artist Shantell Martin used the app in a showcase for Google I/O 2018.

Available on Android & iOS.
